HPC Fire Round Bowl Fire Pit Insert, 13" to 43", Electronic, Push Button or Match Lit
The HPC Fire Round Bowl insert is a fully assembled, spun stainless steel fire pit pan with the burner, controls and gas fitting already in place, ready to drop into a round enclosure or bowl. HPC introduced this spun bowl design in 2004 and it remains its most popular pan style. Choose from six pan sizes, a standard Penta or torpedo burner, and electronic, push button or match lit ignition for natural gas or propane.
Choosing Size, Ignition and Gas Type
Work through these choices in order. Each one changes what your site needs before installation.
1. Size
- Round Bowl Insert Size: 13″, 19″, 25″, 31″, 37″, 43″.
- BTU changes with size and ignition. The BTU table below lists the BTU for each. A second table lists HPC's recommended enclosure size for each pan and ignition.
2. Ignition
| Ignition | Power needed | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Match Lit | None | Key valve; you light the burner by hand with a long lighter or match. |
| Push Button Flame Sensing | One AA battery | Spark ignition with flame sensing. |
| Non-Certified | Not listed by HPC | Push button kit with a decorative key valve. Not CSA certified. |
| Electronic On/Off | 120VAC: 1 amp, GFCI-protected circuit; 24VAC: Class II transformer, 4 amp, 100 W | Hot surface ignition with flame sensing. A wall switch is required for safety shutoff. |
| Electronic Hi/Lo | 120VAC: 1 amp, GFCI-protected circuit; 24VAC: Class II transformer, 4 amp, 100 W | Same as On/Off, plus a Bluetooth remote and the HPC Fire app, and a low setting that cuts BTU by 40%. |
- Low-voltage electronic models need a separate power supply. HPC recommends its 311-PS (24VAC) series; we stock them as the HPC Fire 24VAC or 12VAC Fire Pit Power Supply.
- On/Off gives a single flame height. Hi/Lo adds the remote and a low setting.
3. Gas Type
- Natural Gas: for a fixed natural gas line. Supply pressure 3.5" to 7.0" W.C.
- Liquid Propane: for fixed propane piping. Supply pressure 8.0" to 11.0" W.C.
- Running from a 20 or 30 lb propane tank? Choose a Small Tank ignition option, offered in the 13″, 19″, 25″, 31″ sizes.
- Standard models, including all electronic models, are for fixed gas piping only.
- Order the gas type your site is plumbed for. Modifying the product voids its certification and warranty.
- Burner: Standard or Torpedo. Compare the BTU of each in the table below.
Not sure which configuration fits your project? Send us your enclosure size, gas type and the power available at the site before ordering.
Key Features
- Spun 304 stainless steel bowl: The pan is spun from #304, 18 gauge stainless steel, which gives it rigidity, and the sidewall holds fire media in place.
- Recessed burner: The pan lip leaves room for a recessed burner and blowout box, so the flame sits low in the media bed.
- Welded gas fitting and weep holes: The welded fitting adds strength at the gas connection, and weep holes let rainwater drain out of the pan.
- Four ignition systems: Electronic hot surface ignition with flame sensing (On/Off or Bluetooth Hi/Lo, 120VAC or 24VAC), push button flame sensing, match lit, or a non-certified push button kit with a decorative key valve.
- Standard or torpedo burner: The torpedo version of each Penta burner gives a different flame pattern and, on several electronic sizes, a higher BTU rating (see the BTU chart).

Installation & Requirements
- Gas supply: for fixed piping systems only; the standard models are not for use with small tanks (separate small-tank LP versions are listed where offered).
- Natural gas supply pressure: minimum 3.5" W.C., maximum 7.0" W.C. LP supply pressure: minimum 8" W.C., maximum 11.0" W.C. (HPC drawings dated 7/9/2024).
- Any flex line from the permanent gas supply must be rated to the insert's maximum BTU and certified to ANSI Z21.75/CSA 6.27.
- Enclosure venting: inserts up to 200K BTU need at least 2 vents of 18 sq. in. each on opposing sides; inserts above 200K BTU need at least 4.
